Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has admitted that expelling Indians in the 70s was a “mistake”. Uganda’s former dictator Idi Amin had expelled Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi citizens from Uganda – leading to a mass exodus from the country. About 80,000 Indians living in Uganda at the time had to leave their homes and thriving businesses to migrate to safer places. Palki Sharma tells you how Museveni’s admission sets an example.
